Rejko Krüger, Parkinson’s, Dementia and Role Models in Luxembourg

My guest is Professor Rejko Krüger – originally from Germany, made Luxembourg his home 11 years ago. Since then, he has become a central figure in medical research here, as a world-renowned expert on Parkinson’s disease, professor of neurology, and director of the Department of Transversal Translational Medicine at the Luxembourg Institute of Health.

Rejko has played a key role in shaping Luxembourg into a hub for Parkinson’s research and care – from establishing the National Centre of Excellence in Research on Parkinson’s Disease to launching ParkinsonNet, a pioneering care network that directly benefits patients. He’s also coordinating the country’s Dementia Prevention Programme, which explores how lifestyle choices made earlier in life can help reduce the risk of cognitive decline later on.

I’m excited to welcome him to the studio today to talk about his work, Luxembourg’s role as a hidden champion in medical research, and the lessons he’s learned along the way.
